Terms of Service
Last updated August 2026
These Terms govern your use of the MoneyBuddy app and website (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and located in the United States to create an account. Guest planning features may be used without an account.
2. The Service
MoneyBuddy is a personal budgeting and financial-planning tool. It helps you view and organize financial information and model plans. The Service is currently offered on a limited, pre-release basis: features may change, be added, or be removed, and the Service may be unavailable at times.
3. Not financial advice
MoneyBuddy is an informational and organizational tool. It is not a licensed financial, investment, tax, accounting, or legal advisor, and nothing in the Service is individualized advice or a recommendation to take any financial action. You are responsible for your own financial decisions and should consult a qualified professional where appropriate.
4. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity under your account. Notify us promptly at support@moneybudy.net if you believe your account has been compromised. You may delete your account at any time in Settings.
5. Bank connections
Linking financial accounts is optional and is provided through Plaid. By linking an account you authorize Plaid and MoneyBuddy to access read-only account information as described in our Privacy Policy. Your use of Plaid is also subject to Plaid's end-user terms and privacy policy. MoneyBuddy cannot move money or initiate transactions. You may disconnect any institution at any time.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service in violation of any law, or to infringe the rights of others;
- attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other accounts, or our systems;
- interfere with or disrupt the Service, including probing, scanning, or overloading it;
- access the Service through automated means except as expressly permitted;
- reverse engineer the Service except to the extent that restriction is prohibited by law.
7. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, and content (excluding your data), is owned by the operator of MoneyBuddy and protected by intellectual-property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for your personal, non-commercial use.
8. Your data
You retain ownership of the information you provide. You grant us the permissions needed to operate the Service for you, as described in the Privacy Policy.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that financial data displayed will be complete or accurate — such data originates from third parties and your financial institutions.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator of MoneyBuddy will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or savings, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed USD 100.
11. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service or its users.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. If we make material changes we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which the operator of MoneyBuddy resides, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
